Earthquake zone’s intense construction activities and labor demand have led to an increase in daily wages. While the construction sector receives 4,500 TL daily wage nationwide, daily wages in earthquake zones have hit record highs.

Construction work is continuing in nearly 3,500 sites in the earthquake zone. The intense construction activities in the region directly affect labor daily wages. According to a report in Türkiye Newspaper; while a construction worker’s daily wage in Istanbul reaches 4,500 TL, it exceeds 7,000 TL in earthquake zones.

182,000 WORKERS OPERATE IN THE REGION

Sector authorities point out that the majority of qualified workers have moved to the region, emphasizing the labor shortage in Istanbul. Authorities state that masters are moving to the earthquake zone, and the prices there are starting to be demanded in metropolitan cities. It is stated that 182,000 construction workers operate in the region.
